The Modern Bride Feature: Magdalene
For 'The Modern Bride' Collection, we wanted to invite real brides or brides-to-be as a part of the project. As modern and independent women inspire the collection, we felt that it is right to show this meaning with real people with unique personalities and styles. For brides who represent elegance, class, and simplistic sophistication, we hope that it is as joyful to see our brides rocking different styles of bridal outfits!
Featuring our first bride, Magdalene, she is a preschool teacher and children inspire her the most. As we meet her through fittings and the making of this campaign, her bright personality always seems to make the room more lively. She shared with us her thoughts about being a bride, her style, and her experience in being a part of the campaign.
Please tell us about yourself!
Magdalene: One word to describe me would be “wallflower”. In conversations, I prefer listening and observing rather than talking.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Getting married is a significant stage in your life, how are things going? Is there anything that you can share?
Magdalene: There have been bumps along the journey, but I thank God for the many blessings He has blessed us with throughout this journey towards marriage. One piece of advice - communication with your partner is key!
We understand that wedding planning and searching for 'the dress' can be both difficult and fun. What were the nicest part and the hardest part of it for you?
Magdalene: The nicest part was the fun of trying different styles, swirling and twirling around in ball gowns, and admiring all the intricate details in different gowns. The hardest part was when I loved aspects of different dresses but couldn’t find the one gown that made me go “this is the one”.
How would you describe your style and how does that relates to you as a person?
Magdalene: On most days, muted colors with a loose minimalistic fit would be my go-to. I like the freedom and ease of movement which translates into my dressing.
As a bride, your style and expectations for your outfit can be very different from your daily wear. If yes, how has your style changed? If not, could you tell us more about how your style stays the same?
Magdalene: I still love a clean look for my gown but with a more fitted cut like a mermaid or trumpet cut. My perfect gown would also have features like a flowy train, satin buttons, and some sequin lace.
In this collection, we wanted to involve real brides, which leads to our giveaway 'Calling out for Brides', and you are one of the winners! How did you feel when it was announced?
Magdalene: I was totally surprised and beyond amazed because this is my first ever giveaway win!! I even had to double and triple-check it wasn’t a scam!
It was lovely to have you as a part of our campaign and new collection. We heard that a photoshoot like this is quite a new experience for some of you. Could you share more about the experience?
Magdalene: It was my first ever ‘modeling’ experience, so it was very unnerving to pose in front of a camera knowing it was for a campaign but in the end, it was a fun experience that I’ll remember for a long time. Thank you to the accent team for this opportunity!
You also got to experience tailoring as we were making your outfits for the Campaign Shoot, is there anything memorable that you could share?
Magdalene: Putting on an outfit tailored to your body is truly different from one bought off the shelf. It was lovely how the outfits so beautifully accentuated each person’s body.
If you had to choose one outfit from 'The Modern Bride' Collection, which one would it be, and why?
Magdalene: Definitely, the feather crop top and tapered pants!!! I love how the whole outfit felt on me and the funness and ease of it.
Last but not least, are there any words that you want to share with yourself as a bride or with all the brides or brides-to-be out there?
Magdalene: Your wedding is a time for YOU to showcase your (and your partner’s) style. Be creative and open to ideas from others, but make sure you make the final call cause you’ll be the one(s) to remember it the dearest!
